It’s that time of year again. Despite a year of cancellations and disruptions, no one is cancelling Christmas or the much-awaited annual Bellingen Growers Artisans Market, where you can purchase locally made, unique gifts for friends and family.
Now in its thirteenth year, the Artisans Market is now a Bellingen institution. This year’s market is fully subscribed with sixty local Artists, Potters, Metal Workers, Sewers and Jewellers who will delight you with a feast of artistic treasures on Saturday the 12th of December, between 8 am and 1pm at beautiful Bellingen Showground.
Solange Villarroel, known to many as Soli (pictured above), has been developing her simple but exotic, silver and copper jewellery since visiting and reconnecting with her ancestors, the Machupe People of Southern Chile and Argentina, who are highly skilled in the art of silversmithing and live in deep connection with the land and all life.
“I have a deep respect for the Machupe People and have gained limitless inspiration from them, encouraging me to make recycled silver and copper Jewellery as a way of honouring my roots,” says Soli. Her original jewellery is handmade and nature-inspired, made with 100% RECYCLED silver and copper and semi-precious stones. “This annual event is a wonderful way of connecting local Artisans with the wider community,” says Soli.
You will also be treated with a variety of food stalls offering breakfast and lunch, coffee and cold drinks. The market organisers are also excited to welcome back the “Merchant Bankers” keeping us entertained with their tunes.
So spread the word to friends and visitors from across the region and let’s all support our local Artisans. And of course, this will be a Covid Safe Event, so you will be greeted by the Bellingen Growers Artisans Market team who will welcome you to this day of colour, music, arts and crafts and of course that special opportunity to get together for the start of the Holiday Season.
