A Snapshot in Time – Bellingen Writers Today

Regardless, COVID or no, or any other perceived obstacles, WRITERS have to WRITE, play to their muse…so on Saturday November 28th a FREE Book Launch and Panel Discussion will be held at the Bellingen Memorial Hall, the first session starting at 3.00pm and the second at 7.00pm

The event “A Snapshot in Time…Bellingen Writers Today” will feature five local authors – Anastasia Guise, Steven Doyle, Miriam Verbeek, Jason John and Tim Cadman with Special Guest Speaker Sue Lennox, co-founder of OzGREEN and 2020 NSW Senior Australian of the Year, who will talk about OzGREEN’s “Youth Leading” Programme

The first session from 3.30-5.40pm titled “Fact to Fiction – Our Endangered World”, and MC’d by well known entrepreneur and community activist Guya Loveman, will feature Anastasia Guise with her seminal book “Gondwana Burning” and Steven Doyle launching his new work “The Hero Gene”

Gondwana Burning” is about the burning of much of the state’s Gondwana rainforests in the Black Summer bushfires. These stories work powerfully to impart a deep reverence for natural ecosystems, and contribute to the important national conversation on grieving and truth-telling. Like diary entries from the end of the world, “Gondwana Burning brings together science and personal narrative in what is ultimately a powerful journey through ecological grief.

Steven Doyle will then have the official worldwide launch of his new book “The Hero Gene”, the story of a teenager’s deadly adventures to save Earth from carbon breathing aliens. It’s set in 2032 when fires and storms still ravage the planet, but thanks to the world’s young adults taking action, humanity still has hope. Inspiring this new work is Steven’s belief that it is essential to create an inspirational future where action and adventure triumphs over climate tragedy

The evening session, titled “Reimagining Our World”, from 7.10-9.00pm sets a change of pace with a panel discussion featuring Miriam Verbeek, author of “Songs of Si’Empra”, her recently completed fantasy trilogy; Jason John author and provocateur with his latest bok “I’m Not A Racist But”; and Tim Cadman, well known sci-fi writer who recently launched “The Changes: Refuge, Rescue, Return

In addition to presentations and discussions over two different sessions, there will be a Book Store and book signings so you can mingle with the authors, their supporters and interested persons
