The trio at Tree-O Gallery has been busily curating a new and very eclectic exhibition of local artists for their 7th ‘Showcase’. Unfortunately the grand opening this Saturday can’t proceed due to Covid, but the beautiful wares of local ceramicist Gloria Malone and photographer Chris ‘Hewy’ Hewgill (photograph above), joined by a team of local artists, will be on display until September 5th.
Chris ‘Hewy’ Hewgill – Photographer – Chris’ photography features the beautiful Mid North Coast coastline from Nambucca Heads to Scott’s Head and from Bellingen to Coffs Harbour. Using Pentax DSLR cameras, lenses and a custom Dave Kelly underwater housing, Chris captures the colour and beauty of the ocean and estuaries above and below the water line.

Gloria Malone – Ceramics – Gloria is a local Bellingen-based ceramic artist. Working in porcelain, her main body of work is based on functional ware. Specialising in gorgeous lampshades and tableware pieces, she loves producing works that people can use and enjoy everyday. Inspiration for much of the new collection stems from the bushfires and the earthy colours have produced stunning results.

We will also have a selection of photography works by Bruce Jacobs – his well focused shots feature the natural beauty of our local landscapes and are expertly surrounded with timber frames that accentuate and complete each piece.
Karen Tollan’s jewellery collection will also remain with us for this next showcase – her stunning range and unique mix of bead, semi-precious stones and pearl necklaces, earrings, bracelets and talismans are a perfect addition to any outfit or space!
They will also be joined by talented timber-craftsman, Matthew Borg. We took delivery of his works last week and the one-of-a-kind imaginative boxes with little drawers; timber bookmarks and King Billy Pine mirror are certainly special pieces… the magic lamp prototype however, is a stand-out piece and will no doubt be a popular fascination with our visitors.
King Fisher Loud Speakers will have their products on display and Myles and Trevor will be available to demonstrate their expert sound quality to interested guests.
Two additional local artists will also have their Tree-o debut – Faye Thompson (glass engraving) and Carmen Lee (mixed media) with a couple of pieces each.
Alongside the new collection are specially selected pieces by – Ceri Frahm, Gyorgy Szerencsi, Tracey Suter, Phil Greed, Lloyd Tubb, Bruce Gilchrist, Sean Scanlain, Peter Sullivan and Les Turner – all resonating atop a variety of beautifully crafted timber furniture and other home décor pieces made by the trio.
The Tree-O Furniture Gallery is open 6 days per week:
