Artist Robyn Louise is a relative newcomer to our region, only arriving a few short months before social restriction policies were enforced. This has resulted in a period of intense creative pursuit and greater experimentation with multiple media, inspired by isolation amidst her new natural surroundings.
“There have been days where I’ve loved the isolation, spending time joyfully creating and at other times I’ve missed people. Art has been consistent in its giving during this time of change. No matter my emotion, it always rewards me with a sense of self.”
Can you describe your artwork and the various media you use?
My art is a representation of nature’s creative beauty; a bright sky reflected, moody mist, light dancing. There is so much inspiration to draw from in this region. I have worked at lot with watercolours and since moving here 8 months ago, I’m being more adventurous in mixing mediums and exploring a more tactile approach, which has been much more freeing.
Is the natural environment your greatest inspiration?
Yes, I have an innate desire to be surrounded nature. It is here the artistry in creation itself inspires me to express. I’m in awe of all its beauty and often feel like a child discovering its magnificence and my place within it.
Where to from here?
I’m excited for more exploration of this beautiful region, capturing its beauty and replicating it diversely. That and catching up with people in the community!
